Dr. Ram Datar

Dr. Ram Datar is a cancer molecular pathologist and a Senior Scientist in the Biosciences Division at ORNL.

He is also the author of 4 joint patents (pending), several invention disclosure agreements. Apart from his lab work, Dr Datar works as an editor of the journal Current Issues in Molecular Biology, and is also a reviewer for a number of biomedical journals.

Prior to his arrival at ORNL, he was Faculty in the Department of Pathology at the University of Southern California from 1998-2007 and for the Department of Atomic Energy in the Government of India for several years.

Dr Datar received his Ph. D. in Applied Biology from the University of Bombay in 1996 with a thesis entitled Gene Regulation in Oral Cancers

Prior to his Ph.D work Dr Datar completed two masters’ degrees in Molecular Biology (MS and MPhil), and a B.S. in Zoology in 1984, 1981, and 1979 respectively from Pune University (India).
